Austin Neurological
Clinic is committed
to the highest standards of patient care and excellence in
neurological and neuropsychological disorders. We derive our greatest sense of accomplishment from doing
what is right for each individual patient.
Neurology is the practice of
medicine which diagnoses and treats diseases and disorders of the nervous
system. Diseases of the nervous system such as stroke, dementia,
epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, meningitis, dystonia, neuropathy and
Parkinson's Disease represent but a few of the patients we treat.
Less serious, but often disabling disorders, such as carpal tunnel
syndrome, pain and sensory disturbances, migraine and sleep disorders are
diagnosed and treated by neurologists. Our specialties overlap, but
do not include psychiatry or neurosurgery.
Neuropsychology is a specialty
which combines the fields of neuroscience and psychology and deals with
the brain and its relationship to behavior. The brain is the most
complex organ of the body and controls intellectual functioning, speech
and language, the perception of touch, hearing, and vision, memory,
attention, personality, along with the coordination of all movement.
Because neurological disorders may affect any of these functions,
neuropsychological evaluations are an important part of diagnosis and
treatment planning.
Our office provides
a comfortable and efficient setting to diagnose and treat neurological
disorders. Welcome to our office and thank you for giving us the opportunity to care
for you and your family.
